
Reese Adams McCranie is an expert communications and public affairs executive with more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications, reputation risk management, media relations, executive communications, external affairs, crisis management and public policy. Trusted by senior leaders, Reese has led communications teams across various industries, all levels of government, and political campaigns. He brings calm, strategic thinking to complex, fast-moving environments where credibility and public trust are paramount. Most recently serving as Director of Strategic Communications and Reputation Risk for North America at McKinsey & Company, Reese leads media crisis response and advises senior leadership on proactive and reactive communications tied to reputational risk.
Previously, Reese served as a Presidential Appointee in the Executive Office of the President as Press Secretary and Deputy Assistant National Cyber Director for Public Affairs, where he led communications for the launch of the nation’s first National Cybersecurity Strategy. Additionally, he was appointed as Senior Advisor for U.S. Department of Homeland Security where he advised Customs and Border Protection leadership on crisis communications efforts, congressional affairs, and developed a media strategy for the 60,000-employee agency.
Reese’s background also includes senior communications leadership roles across two mayoral administrations with the City of Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He has also held senior positions for various municipal, statewide and presidential campaigns including the 2020 Biden for President campaign in Georgia, where he served as Deputy State Director. Across these roles, Reese has acted as chief spokesperson, led executive and surrogate media interview preparation, managed reputational crises, and advanced public policy priorities through disciplined communications and public affairs strategies. Known for clarity, discretion, and results-driven execution, Reese is widely respected for guiding leaders through moments of risk, scrutiny, and opportunity while strengthening institutional trust and public confidence.
Reese is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Regional Leadership Institute and was recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of Atlanta’s 40 Under 40. He received his Global Executive MBA from Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business and resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
