While other people struggled during the pandemic, Haaris leaped out of his comfort zone and overcame his fears to provide meals for people in need. Recognized by Stratford Academy in Macon as the senior with the most cumulative community service hours in his class, he was featured in Macon Magazine’s “Good-Doers,” received a Points of Light Award, and was nominated for a Golden Eagle award for citizenship. He is a math and science tutor and mentor, past president of the Chess Club, and had a summer job in a lab at Mercer University. The type of person who can talk to anybody, Haaris hopes his love of service will inspire young people to act..
