ISB Atlanta Speakers Bureau

ISB Atlanta sends speakers to a wide variety of audiences including public and private schools, universities, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, civic and faith based organizations and cultural institutions. Our presentations are customized to fit the needs of our hosts and can address specific topics (e.g. medicine, law, finance). Each program provides information about Islam and Muslims, answers audience questions and models the cultivation of intergroup relationships. All ISB Atlanta speakers are trained and certified to adhere to the First Amendment guidelines -- teach and not preach -- when presenting.

ISB Atlanta has trained and certified speakers who can address a wide variety of subjects, including:

  • American Muslims: Beliefs and Practices: 
    • Provides an overview of Muslim beliefs, demographics, practices and common misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.
    • Recommended for: Middle and high schools, universities, and civic and faith-based organizations
  • Muslim Women: Past Present & Future
    • Examines the role of women in Islam and showcases important Muslim women in history and the modern world. Suitable for courses related to women studies, world religions and civil rights.

  • Ramadan Demystified
    • Offers a deeper insight into the fasting observance of Muslims. It includes information about the significance of the month, calendar, timing, rules of the fasting, who can and cannot Advanced high school students, universities, and civic and faith-based organizations, and the practices of Muslims during this month.

  • The Quran Explained
    • Introduces the Muslim scriptures, the Quran; the process of revelation according to Muslim sources; its structure and organization; and its position in the development of Muslim societies. Also includes a suggested approach to verses, which are considered controversial, such as ones pertaining to warfare.

  • Cultural Competency for Law Enforcement
    • Developed specifically for law enforcement at the federal, state and local levels in non-emergency situations, this presentation offers insight into effectively interacting with the American Muslim communities. In addition, the training provides suggestions on how to build sustainable relationships with the American Muslim community. The interactive workshop can include case studies and role-plays.
  • Cultural Competency for Medical Professionals
    • Developed for the healthcare community (hospitals, hospice, chaplaincy, medical students & doctor’s offices) this interactive presentation serves as an introduction to American Muslims, Islamic concepts and cultural competency around Muslim patients. Includes information specific to healthcare situations (HIPAA, etc.) and audience scenario participation.
